Is acupuncture effective for women's health issues?
Today's woman has more challenges than ever before and it reflects in the increasing numbers of women having health problems. Acupuncture can be a powerful alternative in dealing with some of these common disorders. One of the diseases which targets women is rheumatoid arthritis. It's a chronic disease in which joints become inflamed and painful. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can provide relief from these symptoms and can help slow the progression of the disease.
Additionally, acupuncture is successful in treating many common gynecological problems such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation), menstrual irregularities and endometriosis (a condition where tissue that looks and acts like the lining of the uterus grows in other areas of the body). Acupuncture can correct many of these imbalances because it helps to normalize the functions of organs and tissues, as well as balance hormone levels
Many women these days are choosing to have children much later than was typical in past genrations and for some it is more difficult getting pregnant and carrying the baby to full term. Acupuncture can be effective in treating some types of infertility and threatened miscarriages.
Acupuncture can also assist with some of the common symptoms that occur during pregnancy such as nausea and low back pain. After the delivery, acupuncture helps to strengthen the new mother and address problems such as mastitis.
